JAHAZ MAHAL (MEHRAULI)
There are doubts about the original use of this building which is popularly called ]ahaz Mahal because of its adjacent lake. It might have been used as a mosque as there is a mihrab in the western wall, but on the other hand, local tradition puts it to be a house built by a merchant for a saint. A square chhatri adorns each of its four corners, while the prayer chamber is crowned by an octagonal one. The glazed tiles of blue colour have been used for decorating the domed pavilion over the gateway. It was built perhaps during Lodi period (A.D. 1451-1526)
